Not a Compliment: End Street Harassment PGH

This exhibit showcases work from the End Street Harassment PGH collective. Drawing upon information gathered in interviews and focus groups with high school and college students in Pittsburgh, the exhibit sheds light on people’s experiences of street harassment and how it impacts them. Black and white photos document locations and spaces where harassment has occurred. Paintings illustrate the emotional toll that street harassment has on individuals. Collages explore the possibility of a world without street harassment. The exhibit also features public art mapping out street harassment and the challenges of navigating public spaces in safety.

End Street Harassment PGH

The End Street Harassment PGH project is a collaboration of researchers, students, and community members led by Dr. Britney Brinkman in the Department of Psychology at Point Park University. Their mission is to raise awareness about street harassment in Pittsburgh. Through advocacy, community collaboration, and creativity, they believe change is possible.Their vision is to cultivate a Pittsburgh that is welcoming and inclusive for all, a community in which everyone feels safe in public spaces.
