First Fridays in the Gallery: Unblurred with Clara Wang
June 3 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 6:00 pm on day First of the month, repeating until April 4, 2025
Join us on the first Friday of each month from 6-10pm for Unblurred, a monthly gallery exhibition at Assemble. Each month, a different local artist will showcase their work in our 4824 Penn Ave Gallery.
With Unblurred, Assemble seeks to elevate the work of artists and makers in the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh, with a special focus on artists with a social justice or community-oriented practice, work with new media, MFA candidates, African American, LGBTQA+, and other minority Artists/Makers/Technologists.
In May, we welcome Clara Wang. As a practicing interdisciplinary artist who focuses on conceptual development when making works, Clara often uses language, symbols, and mundane objects as materials to explore and develop the concept of her works. Many of her works are inspired by her personal experience as a Chinese living in the U.S. From small things like changing to Fahrenheit from Celsius, to broader conflicts between the Eastern and Western world, her practice becomes the method and material with which she processes, understands, and portrays her thoughts and experiences navigating these worlds.
