First Fridays in the Gallery: Unblurred with Hack the Future

June 3, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Unblurred Hack the Future

Join us on the first Friday of each month from 6-10pm for Unblurred, a monthly gallery exhibition at Assemble. Each month, a different local artist will showcase their work in our 4824 Penn Ave Gallery. On June 3, Assemble’s high school program, Hack the Future, will be our featured group of artists! The installation “Instability” is about the average stressful high school experience. Something a lot of us had trouble with was getting adults to understand the daily struggles of teens and the expectations laid upon them, so this installation addresses that through metaphorical pieces of art.

Who is Hack the Future:

We are a group of teens who meet every Saturday to discuss the state of the world and use artistic/technological mediums to address social issues. It is a safe space where we can enjoy each other’s company, hang out, and make things.

With Unblurred, Assemble seeks to elevate the work of artists and makers in the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh, with a special focus on artists with a social justice or community-oriented practice, work with new media, MFA candidates, African American, LGBTQA+, and other minority Artists/Makers/Technologists.
