TEXTURED PAINTING WITH SADIE SHOAF @ SATURDAY CRAFTERNOONS
On Saturday, January 10th local artist Sadie Shoaf and her assistant Andy came to Saturday Crafternoons to teach us how to make mobiles using reused objects and textured paintings!
Sadie described the concept of 3D and textured painting and showed us a few of her own pieces. She explained the concept of pointillism, a technique that uses a series of dots to create an image. The kids were able to apply this technique by rolling thick cardboard tubes attached to paint coated bubble wrap.
After painting, the kids created their mobiles using wire hangers, streamers, ribbon and were able to attach their textured paintings! They also had the option of adding a LED light to the top of their mobile.
Thanks so much to Sadie and Andy for coming to teach us about textured painting!
