About Our Summer Camps

Assemble’s Summer Camps are open to kids and tweens, ages 6-14. From beginners to burgeoning hackers, all skill levels are accepted and welcome! We simply ask that your child comes ready for learning and fun!

Register for our 2019 Summer Camps through the Eventbrite links below. 

  • Assemble’s 2019 Summer Camps will take place at 4824 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh PA 15224.
  • All Assemble Summer Camps run from 9am-4pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Each Camper will receive an Assemble STEAM Camp t-shirt.
  • We offer morning and afternoon snacks. Campers will provide their own lunch, but lunches will be provided for those who need it. Please note that Assemble is a peanut-free space.
  • Pre-camp and post-camp care are available for an additional fee. Pre-camp is 8-9am and post-camp is 4-5pm.

Summer Camp Schedule

YOU-Topia: FUTUREVISION (Ages 11-14)

June 17 – June 21, 9AM-4PM

What will the earth look like in 2050? How do you grow food in an ever-changing urban environment? Join us as we imagine and explore the future of urban planning, community agriculture, and virtual reality (VR). Learn about imaginative storytellers and dreaming, scheming makers who are already designing the possibilities of other worlds. Projects will include creating VR landscapes, building a simple DIY radio, and more! 

Survival of the Futurist (For Ages 8-10)

June 24 – June 28, 9AM-4PM 

The future needs your inquiry, your questions, and your citizen science in action! Join us as we explore what the future holds! What does it look like? What solutions can you help inspire? Use science and engineering to create your vision for the future while learning about sustainability and the environment. Get your computer coding, virtual reality, and circuitry skills to invent new games! Meet scientists, designers, technologists and engineers, and collaborate with your peers to discover how you can survive the future!

Story Lab: Build Your Own World (Ages 8-10)

July 8 – July 12, 9AM-4PM

Got an idea you want to share? Design your own digital and print media and learn how to work collaboratively to come up with solutions to issues in your community and world. Learn about local media makers as you reinvent the future of storytelling! Projects will include digital comics, meme-making, puppetry, and more.

Top Secret Maker Mission (Ages 6-7)

July 15 – July 19, 9AM-4PM

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to engineer your way through a series of projects and problems to fulfill your top secret mission! You will engage in hands-on challenges taking apart electronics, making circuits and robots, computer coding, and decoding secret messages, as well as using genetics and biology to solve problems! Learn some spy survival skills as you make your way through your Maker Mission!

Superheroes Assemble! (Ages 8-10)

July 22 – July 26, 9AM-4PM

Curious about your own super powers? Can you leap over tall buildings like a grasshopper? Do you have the seeing capability of an owl? Let your inner superhero out! Join your fellow Assemblers to creatively explore bioengineering as you harness the superpowers that already exist in nature! Design, prototype, and make your own costumes and gadgets! Use your superpowers of science, technology, engineering, art and math to tell your story!

Superheroes Assemble! (Ages 6-7)

July 29 – August 2, 9AM-4PM

Eco Explorers (Ages 11-14)

August 5 – August 9, 9AM-4PM

Are you curious about how technology is used to help the environment? Get your hands dirty at Eco Explorers Camp to learn about ecology, renewable energy, and green graffiti.

This camp offers a field trip to a community garden – stay tuned for more details.

Galaxy Girls' Space Camp (Ages 8-12)

August 12 – August 16, 9AM-4PM

Have you ever wanted to join a space crew? Join our Galaxy Girl space crew to build a spaceship, simulate a space flight, and even terraform a distant planet. Explore the universe with us, and learn about what it takes to build new habitats on other planets.

This camp offers an optional day-long field trip – stay tuned for more details.
