Ongoing Internships (Fall, Spring, and/or Summer)

Development Assistant

Assemble is seeking an enthusiastic student to serve as the Development Assistant. This internship is an opportunity to work development, fundraising, and donor management projects that will have a true impact on the sustainability of the organization.

Internship duties:

  • Research grants
  • Write grant proposals drafts
  • Conduct research to add potential contributors and supporters
  • Assist in developing timeline for donor and sponsor continual engagement
  • Manage Donor Database
  • Plan a social fundraiser
  • Compile research on STEAM/Maker Education topics for grants
  • Attend and contribute to Board Committee meetings when possible
Outreach Assistant

Assemble is seeking an enthusiastic student to serve as the Outreach Assistant. This internship is an opportunity to organize experiences, plan community engagements, and utilize making as marketing. This extrovert role will assist in getting the word out of our programs and build trust with in our communities.

Internship duties:

  • Develop marketing materials for programs
  • Research better ways to communicate with our kids, parents, and makers
  • Assist in coordinating tabling activities and events
  • Aid in social media and outreach campaigns
  • Utilize authentic methods of community engagement
  • Assist in relationship building through empathy and accessibility
  • Compile research on outreach hubs
  • Attend community meetings as well
  • Attend and contribute to Board Committee meetings when possible
Unblurred Gallery Assistant

Want to gain experience in arts management? Assemble is also a gallery space, and hosts an opening on the First Friday of every month from 6-10 pm.  Clearances are not required but encouraged.

Internship duties:

  • Serve as liaison to incoming and outgoing artists, and assist in preparing the space for openings.
  • Help with setup (beginning at 5:30), cleanup (ending at 10:30) during the first Friday Unblurred Gallery Crawl.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers to assist with Unblurred and other related events.
  • Assist with Artist talks and workshops and other interactive experiences related to the shows; may assist in planning and developing these programs.

Summer Internships

Summer Camp Assistant

Work alongside kids through our in-house summer camps, June 18 – August 17. Our summer camps focus on STEAM learning and run from 9am-4pm, Monday-Friday. Read more about our summer camps here: assemblepgh.org/summer-camps-2018/

Internship duties:

  • Assists the Assemble Teacher and TA with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) activities during regularly-scheduled summer camps.
  • Assists students with the daily evaluation form
  • Maintains a clean environment and assists with any set up and cleanup related to the program
  • Distributes the morning and/or afternoon snacks
Materials, Media, and Me (M3) Assistants

Assemble is seeking an enthusiastic student to work with students in K-5th grade at our Saturday program. Each week we feature a new material and an expert to serve as a real live precedent. Work with kids and local artists, makers, and technologists as you go through a quick version of the design process. This program is every Saturday, from June 23 to August 18 from 1-3pm, with a commitment of approximately 4-5 hours per week. Must have clearances to work with kids in PA.

Internship duties:

  • Assists the Assemble Teacher and TA with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) activities during regularly-scheduled Saturday workshops.
  • Assists students with the weekly evaluation form
