The Art of Women in Sound :: Maggie Lynn Negrete
In circulation since 2015, Women in Sound is a print and online zine dedicated to women and non-binary people in all areas of live and recorded sound. Beginning with the third issue, art director, Maggie Lynn Negrete fully illustrates covers, portraits, gear and hand-lettered titles creating a bold aesthetic that recalls Riot Grrl zine culture and the geometric designs of audio equipment. For the first time, seven portraits and two covers will be on display in large format. Go to WomeninSound.com to purchase raffle tickets for your chance to win a 24 x 36 archival quality print of either Issue 7 or 8’s cover artwork. All proceeds will be split between Assemble and Girls Rock PGH, two organizations that inspire young people to pursue art, technology and music in our hometown of Pittsburgh, PA.
