Teens as Teachers at Assemble
Saturday mornings from 10am – 11:30am
February 7th -May 30th, 2015

Want to learn how to teach your passions to other teenagers? Would you like to give back to your community through teaching? Teens as Teachers is a series of weekly workshops where high school students attend classes to learn how to implement programs communicating their expertise in their schools and communities. These students serve as mentors and learning activators who will create programs, based on their skills and interests, in their schools and communities. Throughout the sessions, guest speakers are brought in to share their own expertise on classroom management, curriculum writing, career connections, and more.

Assemble’s Teens as Teachers program empowers Pittsburgh area youth to develop leadership skills and become peer educators in their communities. Join the program to share your expertise, learn how to deal with classroom situations, build lesson plans, teach your chosen topics, and network with peers and community leaders.

Past Teens as Teachers participants have shared their knowledge on subjects that vary from digital tools — including Scratch and Minecraft — to hands-on applications like Cosmetology and starting a Rainbow loom business. Those teens have gone on to start their own teaching programs at their schools, libraries, community centers and even Assemble itself! Gain respect for what you know and help others learn what you love. Sign up on Eventbrite!

Teens as Teachers program also is at Brashear High School, Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:00pm. If you attend Brashear and are interested in participating at your school or have any questions, please email Paige at PaigeH@assemblepgh.org.
