Significantly Pittsburgh: New Artwork by Ryan Ian McCormick detailing historical Pittsburgh sites at varying stages of preservation.
Local artist Ryan Ian McCormick paints Pittsburgh landmarks that have been “overlooked” and are in need of some love. More specifically, he hones in on monuments that are in varying states of physical decay and are slowly being erased from public consciousness. Subject matters include the Crawford Grill No. 2 (renowned jazz club in the Hill District), the Black Opera Company House (first home of the National Negro Opera Company in Homewood) and many other “overlooked” locations in the city. The purpose of the show is to shed light on decaying historic monuments and to ask what is worth saving? The show will also include talks from local historians about the specific landmarks.
