Ready for some hands-on media making?! In May, our guest makers are DS Kinsel and Julie Mallis of BOOM Concepts and Magic Organs! This dynamic duo will work with kids on a variety of fun projects involving print and digital media. We’ll make zines, prints, and animated video projects, and we’ll learn about how these things can all be connected!
For our final May Crafternoon, kids will assemble art from previous workshops and finish their zines. Students will use a variety of assembling techniques and decorations to compile their screen prints, poetry, watercolors, etc. into a finished project. Students will then name their personal small press brand, catch up on any old projects from prior weeks, and document their finished zine series.
Saturday Crafternoons promote hands-on learning and community engagement through free, drop-in workshops with local makers and community partners. Each month, we’ll host a series of fun, educational workshops that involve collaboration, skill-building, and neighborhood connections. Weekly attendance isn’t required, but it’s encouraged!
