Haitian Families First presents: Picture Pals
Picture Pals is an inter-cultural awareness, communication, and education project partnering students in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania classrooms with students in Port-au-Prince, Haiti classrooms in an exciting and educational exploration of countries through art and technology that will last through the 2013-2014 school year. Through the guidance of Haitian Families First, Picture Pals students in Haiti will have the benefit of growing artistically and technologically with the guidance of partnered classroom students in Pennsylvania.
Sprouting from the traditional pen pals approach, Picture Pals encourages students to grow creatively by working through a cross-cultural communication platform – artwork – while establishing an understanding of inter-cultural connectedness that will position them to effectively navigate the global market of socio-economic understanding, enter into discussions on race relations and political landscaping, open dialogue surrounding health and wellness related issues, and understand the importance of providing and participating in shared learning opportunities for and with everyone.
An event every week that begins at 1:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until March 29, 2019
