In May, we’re continuing our Community Ecology Pattern Project with Guest Maker Ashley Cecil — and a special visit from Artists Image Resource (AIR)! Over the course of the next few weeks, Girls’ Maker Night program participants will take their art inspired by local biodiversity and turn it into a repeatable pattern to silk screen for a public art installation. Keep an eye out for their finished piece, which will be displayed as part of the Sidewall Project in June!
Assemble’s new Girls’ Maker Night empowers girls in grades 6-8 by making connections between hands-on STEAM learning and the world around us. Throughout the semester, girls will participate in hands-on activities, meet local STEAM experts, and work collaboratively on monthly projects. If you’d like to know what we’re up to this semester, you can follow our blog, which will be updated regularly by Girls’ Maker Night participants.
The Girls’ Maker Night program takes place every Monday from 4:00 – 6:30 pm, beginning January 5th.
Early signup is encouraged, because classes are limited to 10 girls to ensure all girls receive personal attention. Please sign up here – only one free ticket is needed for the semester. Girls who sign up should be able to attend all sessions.
