Try your hand at game design using MIT’s Scratch and more! Make multiple projects and will learn to create and design with new and exciting resources like the Digital Corps.
This program is offered for FREE. Assemble believes that the 21st Century skills youth learn in our programs should be accessible to everyone. But, if you can afford to make a donation to help us cover our costs, it is greatly appreciated! (The average cost of an afterschool program in Allegheny County is over $100 per week)
Assemble Afterschool is limited to 15 students. We highly encourage parents to ensure that their children can attend most of the sessions as the activities build throughout the month. If your child is only able to attend occasionally, please check out our drop-in program, Saturday Crafternoons, which takes place from 1-4pm each Saturday at Assemble. We also welcome them to our Learning Parties that happen on the second Wednesday of the month.
About the Lead Instructor: Julia Brown is an experienced Assemble instructor. She is also a Remake Learning Digital Corps teacher and has experience ranging from analog making to Arduino programing. Throughout the Spring, guest experts such as practicing scientists, artists, and technologists will also visit to aid in career connections.
