VISUAL TRANSIT TALES W/ JUAN FERNANDEZ AND PPT @ SATURDAY CRAFTERNOONS
On Saturday, March 7th we worked with local cartoonist and printmaker Juan Fernandez and began our month-long partnership with Pittsburghers for Public Transit (PPT)!
We were able to learn a bit about PPT and the public transportation system in Pittsburgh thanks to Molly Nichols, a community organizer for PPT!
After hearing from Molly, the kids started at the sketching station with Juan where they could draw and sketch buses of all shapes and sizes.
Once they formulated and finalized their ideas, the kids could create a zine or story about their bus.
The final station consisted of building their busses using a wide variety of materials! Some even used LED lights, batteries, and copper tape to attach brake and headlights!
At the end of the afternoon, the kids shared their amazing work with each other and provided comments and feedback about their pieces.
Huge thanks to both Juan and Molly for coming!
