Retro Typewriting

Test your typewriting skills with master storyteller Doctor Sparks. You’ll write a short story during the workshop with one of 15 antique typewriters then share with the group. Best story will take home a prize! 

DIY Journal

Expert book-binder, Tess Wilson is leading us on a crash-course on the basics of bookbinding. In this short workshop we’ll learn the fundamentals of creating binding your own book. Participants will leave the workshop with their very own, bespoke journal.

Coding Zines

Let’s dip our toes into computer programming by way of…zines! We will program our zines with web languages, programming layout and style with HTML/CSS, and using JavaScript to code playful, optional enhancements into our content with text manipulation and text generation algorithms. After programming our zines, we will print and enhance them with traditional, physical “cut and paste” methods. Before you know it, the first edition of your zine is complete, and can be distributed both physically and digitally!

Assemble is teaming up with Fair Moans Collective for May’s 21+ workshop. Join us as we geek out about sex and science! In this workshop, Jayla Patton of Assemble and Meredith Maloney of Fair Moans will walk you through sculpting and casting your own unique sex toy from body-safe materials. At the end of this three-hour workshop, participants will take home their very own sex-safe toy and the skills and knowledge to make more on your own!
